Problem Statement

Potential adopters in the area want to find the right pet for their family but may be unsure where to start. The goal was to allow potential adopters to filter and find the right pet for their family, request a meeting with said pet, and find important information for adopters to know. As well as accept donations and receive offers to volunteer.

User Research

Before work began on the project I did a survey with both pet owners and people who would like to be pet owners about what information is important to know before adopting a pet. After synthesizing the findings it became clear that users are unsure what type of pet will be best for their family but would like to find one. They also do not like meeting pets only to find out they are not good with other pets or children. Also, many users have found that other pet shelter websites are difficult to use on mobile.

Usability Study

A moderated usability study conducted with 6 people between the ages of 20 and 55 found that users wanted more filters for animal traits and found the layout on the "find the right pet for you" page confusing because they did not immediately
